Tips From Dr. Tyler

Dental care during pregnancy is just as important as routine dental care. Keeping up with your oral hygiene and monitoring any changes in your mouth will help with keeping both you and your baby healthy.

Have you ever suffered from a canker sore? You’re not alone. According to International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, 1 and 5 people have experienced canker sores. A canker sore is an ulcerated lesion or sore that can develop virtually anywhere in your mouth. The most common places you will find them are on your tongue, inner cheeks, lips, gums, and the roof of your mouth.

Oral hygiene is an important factor in our daily routine. Proper dental habits prevent issues like cavities and gum disease. Dentists recommend brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing daily to remove food particles and rid your mouth of bacteria. While there are different types of toothbrushes that cater to your needs, there are also different types of flossing tools. Some people question whether regular floss or oral irrigators, also known as water flossing device, works best for their teeth.

It’s that time of year where the flu and seasonal colds are making its rounds, spreading from person to person. You may be one of the not-so-lucky people who are currently dealing with the sniffles and a cough. If you are, I’m sure your dental health is the last thing on your mind at this point, but believe it or not, a cold and flu can affect your mouth. We came up with a few tips on how you can care for your teeth while fighting a cold.
