Have you noticed pain or discomfort whenever you eat something cold, hot, or sweet? If so, you’re not the only one. Many people suffer from tooth sensitivity but choose not to treat it because they think it will go away on its own, however, this is not always the case. 

Does flossing really help?

Flossing helps by reducing bacteria in your mouth. Flossing also gets those hard to reach areas in your mouth that your toothbrush simply cannot reach. If you do not floss, plaque can accumulate in between your teeth and eventually turn into tartar. Flossing prevents the beginning stages of cavities. Take time to floss at least once a day to remove any food debris from your teeth. 

Before leaving your dentist, you’re given specific instructions how to care for your teeth. This may have included brushing your teeth and flossing twice a day. With proper care, your teeth should remain healthy with little to no issues. There are five important tips to follow when it comes to oral care. 

Periodontal disease (gum disease) is an infection of the gums and the bone that supports the teeth. Healthy gum tissue fits around each tooth snuggly, while patients with periodontal disease show signs of gum tissue pulling away from their teeth. If left untreated, it can become susceptible to further damage that may be irreversible.
